I was lucky to catch some nice weather on my evening off this past Thursday, and I thought I would share.
As for This little bit of summer, in case you were wondering, it was caught on the Angel Rest trail in the Columbia Gorge.

Wow, what a scenic area! And nicely done photos too!

Thanks :-) Sometimes I take it for granted that I live so close to such a wonderful place. I still have yet to explore all of the trails!

I know how that goes - I worked at Redwood National and State Parks for three years and still have trails there I've yet to explore.

I finally scratched the surface of the Columbia River Gorge earlier this summer with a quick side trip to Multnomah Falls, seeing just enough to know I had to make another trip to see more! I only got to see a short stretch of the gorge, and only from river-level, so I especially appreciated the shots from atop the gorge. Thanks for sharing, and I look forward to hearing the back story you mention below.

That seems like that would be a fun place to work at. Growing up in Southern Oregon, Grants Pass, we'd visit the redwoods fairly often. The forest there seemed so quiet and peaceful, not to mention the feeling you get from walking in such an old forest.

Yeah, life can pull you in so many directions at times that it gets pretty hard just to do the simple things in life sometimes. Such as taking advantage of and enjoying the things that are so close and easy to enjoy.

I do love hiking unknown trails with that excitement and wonder of what lies around the next corner. Here in the gorge it tends to be full of lots of waterfall surprises.
I was really impressed by Multnomah falls at first (it is very beautiful), but now I hardly ever stop there unless I'm with someone who has never seen it, mostly just because there are always so many people there.

Oh, and as for the back story there really is not all that much to it just a few words about the trip I wanted to throw in and some comments about some of the pictures, but I'd be happy to have you listen. :-)

Great photos! I'm glad I don't need to pick a favorite.

Since these were shot high above the Columbia River, did you spend the night up on those rocks? I'm guessing that you did since the light is getting low on the last couple of photos.

Thanks for sharing.

Thank you :-)
Actually, I did have to make my way back down the trail. I cut it a bit close, but I ended up with just enough time/light to made it back down in a hurry. With such a change in elevation it didn't take long going back down, but boy were my knees sore, and dusty I might add. :-)
I had about 70 pictures I wanted to post in my own journal, but I wanted to include some back story about the trip. So maybe I'll still do some of that later it just hurts sitting at this computer for too long of a time.
I was thinking about staying home from work tomorrow, but with having to call out a couple weeks ago it may be better just to make it a short day?

I know how fast the light fades when you are on a high point watching the sun set. Last light is fun to photograph, but not fun to find your way down from a trail. I'm glad you didn't fall.

I look forward to seeing more of your photos :)

Re: Yes I'm still awake

Thanks, me too!

Great photographs of some wonderful scenery!

That is some really nice pic! Being a hiker also I know that it had to take allot out of you to get those pics, and I thank you for sharing you little bit of territory.

Your welcome! Thank you! It was all fun for me! I love hiking and I love taking pictures. So when I get the chance I love to share. I've always liked the photo posts where you can follow along with someone else to see what they saw through their eyes. The only problem is that it is very hard to caputre just a small part of how beautiful it can be in person. You just can't get it all in a picture!

These are wonderful!! I would want to hike there all the time
